I promise you, there is no other view quite like the one you get from thousands of feet in the air. If you’ve never been on an airplane, you are missing something beautiful and wonderful all at once.
After the anxiety in the car, the stress of security, and finally the rush of finding the gate; sitting in the window seat on a half-full flight feels like heaven. If you’re thinking, “Kati- you’re crazy! Flights are never like that!” You may or may not be right. But I’m currently sitting in a row all to myself with free snacks and soda. I’ve proven my point.
Flying can be scary, and I understand being afraid of flying. As humans, we are scared of the unknown and the unfamiliar. But if you truly consider the statistics, you’re more likely to die in a car accident than on an airplane. So turn off Lost and stop worrying.
When you’re in an airplane, your whole world is transformed. If the simple adjust in perspective doesn’t change your outlook, try a couple of hours without cellular service. Now that’s something we don’t experience every day. The people you’re with are who you’re with. No snap chatting your other friends, posting your life on Instagram, or texting your mom.
When you fly, I encourage you to try to sit in the window seat. Take a look outside, and take it all in. An airplane is like a portal to another world. If it’s light out, check out the landscape, the ocean, the clouds, and the way the sky changes shades of blue. If it’s dark, watch the lights on the ground move, change, and fade away as you get higher and higher in the sky. Take it in, and never let it go.
